River Walks

A collection of walks in Wales, the West and The Marches

View River Walks in a larger map

These guides will give you a general idea of some brilliant walks. They don't give enough detailed directions to follow without the use of Ordnance Survey maps. You will need to be equipped with decent boots and all-weather gear.

Walk 1 Monnow - Tregate Bridge to Skenfirth Castle
Quiet farmland and woods with a pub and a castle halfway
Walk 2 Teme - Stanford Bridge to Ham Bridge

Half lanes, half fields in the beautiful Teme valley

Walk 3 Wye - Pont Rhydgaled to source

A tough slog up rough country but the only way to follow the Wye to its source

Walk 4 Severn - Rhyd-y-benwch to source

Moors and waterfalls - stunning valley, stunning views

Walk 5 Wye - Monmouth to The Biblins

Under the Seven Sisters and over a rickety bridge

Walk 6 Lugg - Upper Lye to Upper Kinsham

Valley and hill on the Mortimer Trail

Walk 7 Ashes Hollow Brook - Little Stretton to Pole Cottage

The Long Mynd at it’s best. Steep valley, beautiful streams, great views

Walk 8 Rea River - Cleobury Mortimer to Shakenhurst

Twisty valley, parkland and farms

Walk 9 Cardingmill Brook - Cardingmill to Longbatch

Up to the famous Lightspout and down the wilder Longbatch on the Mynd

Walk 10 Leadon - Bosbury to Collier's Bridge

Orchards and fields in rural Herefordshire

Walk 11 Clun - Clun to Clunton

Woodland trails and remote combes

Walk 12 Wye - Monmouth to Redbrook

Down one side and up the other

Walk 13 Wye - Redbrook to Bigsweir

In the hills going south and on the bank going north
